Soreal theme park is the first offline VR display and experience center of Sky Limit Entertainment, located in Beijing, China, with a floor area of 4,000 square meters. It conceives a unique physical space that orchestrates and dramatizes the visitor experience as a seamless transition from urban reality into virtual reality. Since there is very little precedent for the design of VR entertainment venues, it needs to develop a new visual language that celebrates the excitement of the revolutionary new VR medium while remaining content neural, allowing for regularly changing entertainment programs and themes. To counterbalance the current VR technology’s focus on individual experiences that can have a somewhat isolating effect, the creation of opportunities for shared experiences was another objective critical to the park.

I joined this theme park production as an user experience design intern.

The activities I worked on and learnt include:

  • Researched various emerging technologies for implementation in future experiences and attractions;

  • Designed and conducted tests to determine capabilities of new technologies;

  • Used Unreal Engine to implement my design and demo;

  • Conducted user research, competitive analysis and analyzed user behavior;

  • Researched and contacted oversea company to collaborate famous IP;

  • Used SDK to test 4D chair control;
